Welcome to Objects For Plant Display, a design line created by visual artists Chris Ellis and Carly Steward in Woodland Hills, CA.  We collaborate on multiple creative projects together as a marital team. My husband and I met during our undergraduate studies a Otis College of Art and Design, were we received a bachelor degree in the fine arts. We finished our education with graduate studies, receiving our masters degree in the fine arts. I attended California Institute of the Arts and my husband Art Center College of Art and Design. Together we have been working in the fine arts field for more than 20 years now.

Most recently, we have started a line of modern concrete planters that in many ways, embody what we create in our collaborative sculptures. The goal with this line is to create functional objects for the home that are unique, well-made and affordable.

We develop these planters, for the most part because we love plants, we just couldn’t find any elegant planters that fit our style on the market.

Being influenced by mid-century modern design and the sculptural elegance that the traditional Japanese garden holds, we developed a planter that held the essence of this style of design and gardening. We wanted a planter with a minimal look, that enhanced intermingling of the plants and planter they rested in. Allowing the plants and planter to be one cohesive object.  We chose to reinterpret the Japanese gardening style with a modernist view and using succulents for their sculptural presence.

Chris and Carly make each product by hand with the help of their two kids Loretta and Walker.
